A few years ago, I was your typical office-worker: stressed out, uneven energy, overweight, and inconsistent complexion. Now I'm just your typical 28-year old urban hunter-gatherer on a quest to be healthy, and having a few adventures along the way. See my full bio.
Do you take your coffee like John Wayne or Mary Poppins?
If you're going to drink coffee, drink it black. Like John Wayne. Enough with the spoonfuls of sugar. A spoonful of sugar is what Mary Poppins gives to little children to help the medicine go down. Take your pick.

OR

Don't get me wrong, I love Mary Poppins. I just don't need to take my morning medicine like little Michael Banks. Here are a few more John Wayne pics, just for kicks.

There is no way that coffee
There is no way that coffee is paleo. Coffee is the seed inside a fruit that and is not edible raw. Fruit seeds are not supposed to be digested, but to pass through and still be viable. They would never have been a food.If you want caffeine try green tea.
Coffee beans are just
Coffee beans are just roasted, similar to roasting meat taken by hunting.
Meat is edible raw. Coffee
Meat is edible raw. Coffee seeds are not. Back when Neanderthin was the only popular book on the paleo diet that was available, one of the rules used to determine whether a food was paleo or not was it had to be edible raw. When cooking started is controversial. While there is plenty of evidence of its use in the Northern latitutes we are descended from the last wave that left Africa 50-100,000 years ago. And there is scant evidence of fire use in African prior to then. I am aware of Wrangham's Hypothesis that argues we were cooking tubers long ago, but he provides no evidence of fire use in Africa. One page that argues against the hypothesis is here: http://www.beyondveg.com/nicholson-w/hb/hb-interview1f.shtml#brain-gut%2...

Oh, I take my coffee as black and bitter as my SOUL. Double espresso straight up. And then another. :-)
I've been drinking my coffee
I've been drinking my coffee black for years and prefer it that way. I think some people just buy bad coffee or don't know how to make it. Not all coffee is created equal. I don't think a little cream hurts if you can handle dairy, but that powdered / artificial stuff isn't cream.
I'm not sure if either
I'm not sure if either example is very manly or paleo. John Wayne died of lung cancer; a very civilized disease. ;)
I drink coffee sometimes, but
I drink coffee sometimes, but I definitely feel better if I go for a few days without it. I drink very strong coffee, but also enjoy hot water and very light tea. Paleolithic peoples didn't have stained teeth, I suspect.
I have to admit that I like
I have to admit that I like my coffee as in the Turkish saying that goes,"Coffee should be as sweet as love and as black as death."
I tried my first cup of black
I tried my first cup of black coffee today and it wasn't that bad! I am trying to stay away from the energy drinks and 5 hour shots due to thier very unhealthy side affects. My dad had a silent heart attack a few days ago, he is ok, but that really woke me up! I have to start work at 5am so I still need a little pick me up in the mornings and I think my one cup of black coffee will do the trick! No spoonfulls of sugar here
I totally agree... that and
I totally agree... that and adding all that milk? It's not much of a health food with sugar and milk.

Hey John, check out the bottom of my article for some coffee recipe ideas! http://www.allasianboyshavekillerabs.com/2010/08/mastering-vietnamese-coffee/ Feel free to delete this if it seems spammy, but I think you'll enjoy the Primal ingredients =]
I've found a great source of
I've found a great source of heavy cream from grass-fed animals (so yellow!) and realized I was using my coffee as a way to eat more cream... now I'm cutting out the middle man and just eating a few spoonfuls of cream before I drink my coffee!

As a child I needed lots of both in coffee or tea, but since weening myself off years back, the thought of sweet coffee makes me naucious. Some Half&Half occasionally to a strong coffee, but nothing ruins my black espresso each morning!
I drink my coffee like
I drink my coffee like genghus khan: with heavy whipping cream.

"I like my sugar with coffee and cream!"
I've never understood why
I've never understood why people ruined their coffee by filling it with sugar, milk, and cream.

Sometimes I enjoy a little coconut milk in mine. Otherwise it's black as the night!!
