A few years ago, I was your typical office-worker: stressed out, uneven energy, overweight, and inconsistent complexion. Now I'm just your typical 28-year old urban hunter-gatherer on a quest to be healthy, and having a few adventures along the way. See my full bio.

- Cormorant
- Dragonfly

Pigs are insatiable. I've seen ridiculously fat Mangalitsa pigs fight over cookies as if their lives depended on it.Geese and ducks are a whole different story - they don't eat anything like pigs: http://woolypigs.blogspot.com/2008/11/appetite.html

In the walrus's defense, a lack of fat would mean death by hypothermia...however, all thet fat is what makes them so appealing to the very paleo polar bears! Poor Mr. Walrus, you can't win.P.S. Mr.? Are we certain? The above picture could be the Gisele of the walrus-world!
I don't know if they tend to
I don't know if they tend to count calories, but according to some videos I've seen, European Beavers are insatiable. Perhaps you were able to study this point at Harvard.

The Slender Rat hasn't a clue, but the probably-obese-federal-nutrition-bureauc-RAT knows very well. This is why the former is slender and the latter, insisting that proper weight is possible only by counting/measuring/tracking them, is not.
The hippopotamus is quite
The hippopotamus is quite oblivious, as is the hyena and all animals that start with the letter H for that matter.

Beeing a native of Sweden I can for sure say that a Moose has absolutely no idea at all what a calorie is. The Swedish Moose is generally a brilliant scholar in many fields but due to a lot of everyday excersise and good avaliability of food, calories does not at all seem to concern them.
I should say not, as they
I should say not, as they have been seen even to bath in chocolate.
How about some Vibram One
How about some Vibram One Flippers (VOFs) for Mr. Walrus? I mean, sure, they won't help him burn those excess calories, but GOSH won't he look sharp!?!?

Sad pandas don't know what calories are either. I believe that is why they are sad.

John,Do you mean animals like currently living species? Because if extinct ones count, I've found one you forgot: Tiktaalik!(I guess this is my first comment on your very nice blog. I've been a reader from the start. Really enjoy and appreciate the work you put in it!)Pieter

I hate to point out the obvious, but you missed armadillo.
Excellent list but, I too,
Excellent list but, I too, was thinking along the lines of adding a scaly mammal to round it out. How about a Pangolin? And then, maybe one more invertebrate ...say, the delicious kind ...urchin? any ol' squid? I had good laugh, though. Keep up your wink-of-an-eye approach to all things paleo, John; it's working. The message is spreading.
