Best obit ever

From the Denver Post:

A Celebration of the life of Michael "Flathead" Blanchard will be held on April 14th, 3 pm 8160 Rosemary St, Commerce City. Weary of reading obituaries noting someone's courageous battle with death, Mike wanted it known that he died as a result of being stubborn, refusing to follow doctors' orders and raising hell for more than six decades. He enjoyed booze, guns, cars and younger women until the day he died.

Full obit here.  Here are more stories about Flathead told after the funeral.

From tree to baseball bat

ESPN and Louisville Slugger produced this six-minute video on the journey from tree to baseball bat.

If you love baseball, you'll love it. Even if you don't, there are some amazing shots. The slow-motion shot (and sound) of a tree falling is breathtaking -- as in, it will take your breath away (1:35). The Louisville segment is super cool (3:50). Make sure you have good sound.

Here's what I think I like about it. It looks man's relationship with nature square in the eye. I love the narration.

Can't get it to embed properly, so watch it here.

"Natural" has jumped the shark

Long-time reader Pablo emailed me during my couple weeks smoking, pointing out that American Spirits bills itself as a "natural" cigarette.  No artificial additives. Oh yeah, and here is the organic variety.

I think that means smoking all-natural, 100% organic American Spirits is actually good for you. Right?
